From first call to handoff.

Building a custom van, an RV solar system, or a grooming van is a real investment. Here's exactly what working with us looks like — what we do, what we need from you, and how long each step typically takes.

01
Day 1

Free quote

You submit the quote form, call, or text photos of your rig. We follow up with a written, itemized estimate within 24 to 48 hours — no high-pressure sales tactics, no upsell scripts.

  • What you send: vehicle make/model/year, photos of the roof and electrical panel, what you're trying to accomplish
  • What you get back: a written estimate with components, labor, and a timeline range
02
Week 1

Consultation & design

We walk through your build by phone, video call, or in person at our Winnetka shop. Together we land on a layout, component list, and budget. You leave with a clear scope of work and a fixed price.

  • Battery sizing, inverter sizing, and solar capacity worked out for your actual rig
  • Cabinetry layout, materials, and finish discussed and agreed
  • Any unknowns flagged and priced as separate change-order line items
03
Week 1–2

Deposit & parts order

You sign a written project agreement and pay a deposit. We order Victron, Epoch, and any other components specifically for your build, and lock your slot on the build calendar.

  • Deposit covers reserved labor and ordered parts
  • Lead time for major components is generally 1–3 weeks; we'll tell you the actual timeline before you sign
04
Build weeks

Build at our shop or on-site

Most builds happen at our Winnetka shop. For RVs and motorhomes 30 ft+, we travel to you with all tools and components. You'll get photo updates at the major milestones — rough-in, electrical, finish work, commissioning.

  • Solar / lithium upgrade: 3–5 days
  • Inverter or 12V fridge install: half a day to one full day
  • Full van conversion: typically 6–10 weeks depending on scope
  • Grooming van conversion: typically 4–6 weeks
05
Final week

Test & commissioning

Every system is bench-tested before you ever see it in your rig. We verify inverter waveform, solar charging at MPP, lithium pack balance, fridge pull-down, AC soft-start behavior, and shore-power transfer.

  • VRM remote monitoring configured and confirmed working from our phone
  • Wire labels, panel diagram, and warranty paperwork added to your records
06
Handoff day

Walkthrough & handoff

We walk you through every switch, breaker, and screen. We set up the Victron VRM app on your phone so you can monitor your system from anywhere. You drive away with everything you need, plus our number for any question that comes up later.

  • 2-year labor warranty starts at handoff — double the industry standard
  • Manufacturer warranties on Victron, Epoch, and other components remain in force
  • We help facilitate manufacturer claims if anything ever comes up

What to expect along the way

How accurate is your initial quote?

Quotes are fixed, not "starting from." If something we couldn't see at quote time changes the scope (a hidden roof penetration, an unexpected wiring issue), we send a written change order before any extra work happens.

How do you communicate during the build?

Text messages, mostly. You'll hear from us at major milestones with photos. If something needs your decision, we call.

Can I visit during the build?

Yes. We're a small home-based shop in Winnetka and we welcome visits — just text first so we can plan around active work.

Do you offer financing?

Not directly. Many customers fund builds through home equity lines, RV loans, or business lines of credit. We can recommend lenders who have financed our builds before.
